Basement Floor Coating near Prairie View Elementary, Eden Prairie

This 900 square foot basement floor coating project near Prairie View Elementary in Eden Prairie was completed as part of a full basement finishing renovation. The homeowner wanted a decorative, moisture-resistant floor system that would serve as the finished floor surface for a family room and home gym area.

Thorough surface preparation was essential for this below-grade application. We diamond-ground the entire basement slab to remove any existing sealer and create a proper profile for coating adhesion. Several hairline cracks were addressed with flexible polyurea crack filler, and we performed calcium chloride moisture testing to verify acceptable moisture vapor emission rates before proceeding.

The coating system consisted of a penetrating moisture barrier primer, a pigmented polyurea base coat, a decorative flake broadcast in a neutral gray and beige blend, and a clear satin polyurea topcoat. The finished floor provides excellent moisture resistance, chemical durability, and a warm decorative appearance that complements the finished living space. The seamless surface is easy to clean and will not support mold growth.
